Save, Spend, Splurge: Three Spring Fragrance Favourites.

As the seasons change, it’s not just my wardrobe choices (hello, bare leg weather – I’ve missed ya!) and make-up routine that get a bit of a shake up. I also find myself reaching for different fragrances.

Spring scents that are fresh, fruity and floral are my absolute jam right now, and I’ve got three that I’m reaching for each day. And, there’s one perfect for every budget. You can thank me later.

Save: Summer Sun by NEXT

I know, a perfume from a high-street brand but hear me out. This baby is a holiday in a bottle. There are notes of coconut and exotic flowers which leaves your skin smelling well, like you’re sunning yourself somewhere fancy. It’s perfect for sunny days or a lil pick-me-up when it’s gloomy. I can’t wait to wear this when I go away next month.

Spend: Olympea by Paco Rabanne

So I’m cheating a bit with this one as it’s what you might call my signature scent. I pretty much wear it all year ’round, but find myself reaching for it pretty much every day in the spring as it’s so light and fresh. Olympea has – according to the ‘web – notes of Green Mandarin, Ginger Lily, Jasmine, and Salted Vanilla with base notes of Sandalwood. Basically, it’s mythical and smells amaze. My perfect spring perfume.

Splurge: Mimosa and Cardamom by Jo Malone

Oh boy oh boy. If I had to pick a favourite scene EVER, it’d be Jo Malone’s Mimosa and Cardamom. The smoothness of the mimosa, the spice of the cardamom, the hint of rose…what’s not to love? This baby lasts all day and just smells heavenly. If you’re after a special occasion fragrance this spring – or just fancy treating ‘yo self  – I’d recommend this one!

What spring fragrances are you loving? Are there any you think I should try?

The £8.99 Liquid Lipstick You Need.

If you’re looking for the perfect spring / summer liquid lipstick, you can call off the search. I’ve found it and boy oh boy, it’s pure L-O-V-E. And it’s only £8.99.

This is the Boujouis Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipstick in the shade Peach Club and it’s my new BFF.

It’s a coral-peach-red and it’ll look banging’ with a tan. In fact, I reckon it’d suit all skin tones. I’m super pale now and I still love it.

It’s a matte formula (my fave kind!) but it’s not drying and it applies like a dream. One cost and it’s semi-sheer, two and you’ve got a great pop of colour.

Add lashings of mascara, a flush of bronzer and you’re good to go.

And at less than a tenner a pop, I’m gonna be getting these in every sweet summery shade there is.

Nothing says “Spring/Summer” like a coral / peach lipstick and this baby ticks so many boxes for me.

I’ve been wearing it none stop since I brought it and can report that it wears REALLY well. Even with eating and drinking, I only needed to apply this once or twice to keep it looking fresh.

Can ya tell I love this?

If you buy any liquid lipstick this spring, I’d recommend making it this one.

Have you tried anything from this Boujouis range? What colours are your favourites?

3 Skincare Bits You Should Treat Yourself To This Week.

When I was first old enough to get “into” skincare, I remember picking up a moisturiser from Simple and slathering it on my face every now and again.

Up until recently, my skincare regime still consisted of only Simple products albeit there was a Day and Night Cream and an Eye Cream thrown in there as well as a Cleanser and Toner.

But with my 27th birthday rapidly approaching, I decided that it was time I started investing more in my skincare. After all, it’s my face. It’s just there for everyone to see and, well, I figured I should probably start taking it a bit more seriously.

I mean, it’s only a matter of time before those dreaded fine lines and wrinkles start appearing right!? Please no!

And while I’m by no means a skincare expert, I have found some products that I freakin’ love and am so glad to have added to my routine. So if you’re looking to step up your skincare game or just fancy treating yourself to some new things (it is Friday after all!), here are three skincare bits you should treat yourself to this week:

1. L’Oreal Pure Clay Face Masks

My skin has been looking a little dull and meh recently and I’d been looking at something that would help pep it back up. I saw these L’Oreal masks ages ago and finally snapped up the Detox and Glow masks and I am in sweet L-O-V-E.

They’re made of a combination of pure clays and I have a brightening and exfoliating mask and one for sucking out the impurities from my face. They both work like a dream and I’ve been combining them or using them on their own.

My skin feels smooth, more glowing, and I’ve noticed a real reduction in redness from spot scars. They’re now a staple in my pamper night routine!

2. L’Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Milk

This is, I think, a newbie from L’Oreal and when I spotted it on offer whilst doing the big shop I snapped it up. And boy oh boy am I glad I did!

Designed for normal to sensitive skin, this cleansing milk combines extracts of Rose and Jasmine Flowers, in a make-up removing milk. It smells divine and is silky smooth when applied to the skin.

It removes all traces of make-up and feels really nourishing – kind of like a big, soft blanket on this skin. I’ve been using this morning and evening and am loving it. Not bad for an impulse buy!

3. Pixi Glow Tonic

Yup, I’m still singing this bad boy’s praises. I was nervous to use something with glycolic acid in on my face but there’s a reason every man and his dog calls this a ‘holy grail’ product. I shared my thoughts on this in this post in case you fancy a read!

If you’re feeling a weekend pamper, head on down to Boots and pick up one of these babies – I promise you won’t regret it!

Beauty, Fashion, Fitness, Lifestyle

March Monthly Faves.

And here it is! My first ever favourites post! I absolutely love reading what other people have been loving, so thought it was about time I shared a few of the things that have been rocking my world this March.

Some are new additions to my wardrobe / make-up bag / routine and others are “oldies but goodies” that I’ve gone back to or have never really fallen out of love with. So let’s get straight into it!

Midi Skirts: The weather is warming up and I’ve been braving bare legs (and blinding everyone at work with my pasty pins) a few times now. I always thought that being short I couldn’t pull off a midi skirt but recently I’ve fallen hook, line and sinker for them. They’re a huge part of my spring wardrobe and I can’t wait to swap ankle boots for cute loafers on the regular.

Metafit: After a few weeks of being ill, I was in need of a serious kick up the backside when it came to getting back on the fitness wagon. I’ve been going to metafit classes and my GOD are they hard. It’s 30 minutes of pure blood, sweat and tears but I’ve been feeling great after. Plus, I’m starting to tone up super-quick after adding these classes into my regime which is a winner.

Pixi Skincare:  I’ve already raved about this in a recent post so won’t repeat myself here but boy oh BOY have I been loving these little beauties. I recently got my hands on the Glow Mud Clenser and Mask and the infamous Glow Tonic and my skin is looking – and feeling – better than ever.

Dublin: At the beginning of March (it feels like a million years ago now!), I headed to Dublin for my cousin’s hen weekend. I’d been planning it for over a year with my fellow Chief Bridesmaid and other cousin and we all had a blast. I’d like to go back to Dublin and spend more time there – and less time trying to drink pints of Guinness like a lad.

My New Car: Last but not least, I’ve got to give a shout-out to the new man in my life, my Vauxhall Adam. I’ve never been a big “car person” but after my old car’s life was cut short prematurely, I bit the bullet and am SO glad I did. I’m so in love with my new spaceship of a car. L.O.V.E!

Estée Lauder Illuminating Perfect Primer.

It wasn’t all that long ago that I first introduced a primer into my everyday make up routine.

Once I did, I realised how much they change the game and have been religiously using one ever since.

On a browse of the duty free counters at Dublin airport, I spied this one from Estée Lauder and – having heard good things – thought I’d give it a whirl.

The Illuminating Perfecting Primer promises to help your make up stick fast, whilst giving your skin that flawless, glowing finish we’re all craving. You can use on its own before foundation or mix the two together if you’re short on time.

This creamy, silky smooth primer certainly does all that.

It keeps my make up in place all day, and gives a dewy base – perfect for those no make up days. Now my skin is looking better since adding Pixi products into my routine, I’m happy to wear this primer and nothing else on my face.

The Estee Lauder Illuminating Perfecting primer IS worth the money, but loads of drug store primers DO give the same finish. It’s great for that pile of “best” make up though. You know, the kind you use on special occasions.

Have you tried this primer before? Are there any other Estee Lauder products I should try?

REVIEW: Pixi Best of Bright Kit

After vowing 2017 would be the year I’d get serious about skincare, I knew a Pixi Beauty purchase would be in order.

The Pixi Glow Tonic is such a cult product and everyone raves about it, so I thought that would be a good place to start.

I’ve always been picky about what I use on my skin though, and was unsure about taking the plunge.

That was ’till I saw this on Cult Beauty:

The Pixi Best of Bright Kit contains three minis: the Glow Tonic toner, Glow Mud cleanser and the Glow Mid mask. Boom. Ordered. Here are my thoughts:

The Glow Mud Cleanser: If you’re looking for a clay based cleanser that will shift your makeup and leave your face silky smooth this is the one. I have sensitive skin, and this works a dream. Just wet your face, massage the cleanser into the skin for 30 seconds and wash off.

The Glow Tonic Toner: What can I say about this that hasn’t already been said?! It’s a great acid-based toner that leaves skin glowing. I’m not the biggest fan of the smell, but I can get over it. I’ve been using the Pixi cleanser & toner combo morning & night for a few weeks and it’s fab.

The Glow Mud Mask: Shock horror – I’ve never been a face mask kinda gal. Any I’ve used before have given me horrible rashes and irritated my skin. I was desperate – but apprehensive – to try this. I shouldn’t have been. 15 mins and I had THE best skin I’ve ever had. It was glowing. I’m off to get me the full size mask!

What Pixi products have you tried? Are there any you’d recommend?

My Everyday Beauty Essentials.

When it comes to make-up and beauty, I love nothing more than trying new products and discovering new favourites.

However, there are always those few “holy grail” products that I go back to time and time again. Those I reach for on a daily basis, that are perfect for work and the weekend.

Recently, I’ve really found my signature style when it comes to my everyday make-up look so I thought I’d share with you the products I’ve been loving.

1. Collection Primed and Ready Primer in Cool Rose

Up until about 12 months ago, I never bothered with primer. I thought it was just one of those things brands made you THINK you needed. This though, had switched up my name-up game.

It’s silly smooth, illuminating and is the perfect base to apply foundation over. And it really keeps my make-up on ALL day. If I forget to use it, I really notice a difference in my make-ups lasting power.

2. Collection Lasting Perfection and Maybelline Anti-Age Eraser Eye Concealers

One is a cult classic & the other I’ve seen mixed reviews of but both are key in my daily routine.

At nearly 27, I’m reaching for Anti-Age products more and more but this Maybelline concealer is GOOD. It covers blemishes & dark circles like a dream and I’ve not found it to be cakey.

As for the Collection concealer, well, what can I say. Everyone raves about this for good reason. It’s perfect for brighting under the eyes & gives great coverage.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

I’ve already raved about this foundation here so won’t bore you again but the name doesn’t lie. It’s magic.

4. Hourglass Surreal Light Palette

Another product I’ve raved about recently is this beauty. It contains powder, highlighter, blush AND bronzer so it’s all you need. I love all five shades in here, and am reaching for it daily.

5. Make Up For Ever eyebrow pencil

Eyebrows were never something I included in my beauty routine but once I started I could see why everyone did. They make SUCH a difference.

Finding the right product was so hard though. I didn’t get on with dark wax products as I gave ash blonde hair, and pencils were always to harsh.

I searched this on a whim in Sephora when I was in Barcelona and was hooked. It’s the perfect match for my brows,is way to apply, and comes with a highlighter and spooly to tame them brows.

6. Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basixs and NARS Long Hot Summer eyeshadow palettes

If it’s a matte eye I want, I reach for UD. If it’s shimmer, it’s NARS. Both are filled with bronze, copper & taupe shades that have great colour pay-off, blend really well and last all day.

7. Collection Extreme Bold Eyeliner

Drawing on your feline flicks is easy with this liner. The nib is the perfect shape, it glides across the lid and is super black. I love this AND it’s crazy cheap too.

8. Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes mascara

Again, I’ve raved about this before so will keep this short. BUY THIS MASCARA. That’s all.

What make-up products can’t you live without? Is there anything you think I should try?

Hourglass Surreal Lighting Edit.

Can we please just take a moment to appreciate THIS dreamy palette from Hourglass Cosmetics?!

Yep, I’ve only just picked my jaw up from the floor too. I mean, LOOK at it. Swoon.

This baby, is the Hourglass Surreal Lighting Edit and I’m VERY pleased that I’ve finally added it to my collection.

The Surreal Lighting Edit features five stunnin shades exclusive to the palette, all encased in THE dreamiest marble packaging.

At £69, I couldn’t justify splurging on this – girl’s got a mortgage to pay and a cat to feed – but when I saw Space NK had £15…well the rest is history.

This palette features:

Finishing powder in Surreal Light – If you’re after that super glowy, all over finish this powder is for you. Hello, supermodel complexion!

Bronzer in Surreal Bronze – If I only ever wear one bronzer again, I’d happily take this one. It’s smooth, buildable, and gives you that “Just back from the beach” glow.

Blush in Surreal Glow – A mauve-toned blush swirled with highlighter…does it get much better?!

Blush in Surreal Effect – Yup. I love this one too. Again, this blush is swirled with the palettes highlighter and would look amazing on all skin tones.

Strobe Powder in Surreal Strobe Light – THIS. The palette is worth it for this highlighter alone. It’s THE perfect highlighter.

Have you tried the Surreal Light palette? What other things from Hourglass do you love?

Five Charlotte Tilbury Products Worth The Hype.

If you told me that, starting now, I could only wear one brand of makeup for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t hesitate in emptying my makeup bag and filling it with Charlotte Tilbury.

Yes the rose gold packaging is a dream, but it’s so much more than one of the most Instagrammable makeup brands out there.

Charlotte cut her teeth as a makeup artist working with the biggest brands and models in the world, before launching her own range of beauty products in 2013. They were an overnight hit and you rarely hear anyone talk about her products without throwing around the words “holy grail” and “cult”.

Big talk, but which products are REALLY worth the hype?

After all, they’re not as purse-friendly as good ole Rimmel, and you wanna know that you’re spending you’re hard earned cash wisely. Right?

As a self-confessed CT fan girl, here are my top five Charlotte Tilbury products that are worth the hype:

1. The Magic Foundation

Magic by name. Magic by nature. I’m now on my 14927 bottle of this bad boy and there is NO other foundation I want to put on my face. There are 12 shades to choose from and I’ve never found anything that matches my skin as perfectly as this stuff.

Not only that, but it applies like a dream. It’s buildable but not cakey. Not too matte, but not too dewy. It just gives me a really smooth, flawless – yet natural looking – base to apply the rest of my makeup. I’ve used both a brush and a sponge to apply this, and both work perfectly.

At £36 a bottle, it’s pretty mid-rage when it comes to price but this stuff lasts FOREVER.

It’s my Holy Grail foundation. There. I said it.

If you’re in the market for a new foundation, I’d recommend giving the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation a try. As far as I’m concerned, it’s 100% worth the hype.

2. The Legendary Muse Eyeshadow Quad

This bad boy is now sold out online, but if you manage to get your mitts on it – don’t waste any time. Snap. It. Up.1

The four dreamy shades in this pallet are great on their own, but wear them together and boy oh boy. It’s sparkly, champagne, bronzey goodness all over your eyelids. There’s a shade to prime, enhance, smoke and pop which takes you from “desk to disco”.

The colour pay off of each of these shades is amazing, and they last all day and all night. I find myself reaching for this ALL the time, and have already got my eyes on some more of these quads. If they’re half as good as this one, I want them all in my collection.

3. Full Fat Lashes Mascara

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s a clumpy mascara. I like my lashes to look curled and lengthened. Not all stuck together and gross. Not the one. I’ve tried hundreds of drugstore mascaras, but I love nothing like the Full Fat Lashes Mascara from Charlotte Tilbury.

It’s jet-black and does as promised. Gives me some full, fat lashes. It lengthens and curls each lash individually and clumpy lashes are a thing of the past. Another thing I love is that this mascara doesn’t dry up in the tube either. There’s nothing worse than going to apply your mascara and finding out it’s drier than the Sahara.

If you love lengthened, curled and jet-black eyelashes, this is well worth a go.

4. Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk

Every man and his dog is raving about this lipstick and for good reason. Created off the back of the hugely popular lip liner of the same name, Pillow Talk is the perfect pink nude lip for any occasion. It’s cliché, but it really is the ultimate “my lips but better” shade. And I think it would look amazing on all skin tones.

To be honest, I love ALL of the Matte Revolution lipsticks. I’m a big fan of a matte lip anyway, but this range is by far my favourite. The formula isn’t cakey, it’s not chalky or drying on the lips, and every Charlotte Tibury lipstick I’ve tried has worn really well throughout the day.

Glatonberry is another much hyped lipstick in the rage and again, I’d say it was completely worth the hype. It’s the perfect berry and, like Pillow Talk, is a non-chalky, non-drying matte lipstick that is definitely worth all the hype around it.

5. Rock ‘n’ Kohl Eyeliner

Is it a pencil? Liquid? Gel? This pencil is a hybrid of all three and my GOD is it good. It’s a liquid-in-a-pencil liner that makes for drawing the perfect flick. It’s blacker-than-black and lasts all day. No smudging under your eyes of flicks that have vanished into thin air.

This Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner applies like a dream over eyeshadow – unlike some I‘ve tried that seem to drag on the shadow and make a real mess – and is style highly pigmented. The pencil makes for smooth application, and if you can get your hands on this I’d recommend!

Those are my top five Charlotte Tilbruy products worth the hype.

What are your favourites? Which ones should I try?
