Save, Spend, Splurge: Three Spring Fragrance Favourites. 

As the seasons change, it’s not just my wardrobe choices (hello, bare leg weather – I’ve missed ya!) and make-up routine that get a bit of a shake up. I also find myself reaching for different fragrances.

Spring scents that are fresh, fruity and floral are my absolute jam right now, and I’ve got three that I’m reaching for each day. And, there’s one perfect for every budget. You can thank me later.

Save: Summer Sun by NEXT

I know, a perfume from a high-street brand but hear me out. This baby is a holiday in a bottle. There are notes of coconut and exotic flowers which leaves your skin smelling well, like you’re sunning yourself somewhere fancy. It’s perfect for sunny days or a lil pick-me-up when it’s gloomy. I can’t wait to wear this when I go away next month.

Spend: Olympea by Paco Rabanne

So I’m cheating a bit with this one as it’s what you might call my signature scent. I pretty much wear it all year ’round, but find myself reaching for it pretty much every day in the spring as it’s so light and fresh. Olympea has – according to the ‘web – notes of Green Mandarin, Ginger Lily, Jasmine, and Salted Vanilla with base notes of Sandalwood. Basically, it’s mythical and smells amaze. My perfect spring perfume.

Splurge: Mimosa and Cardamom by Jo Malone

Oh boy oh boy. If I had to pick a favourite scene EVER, it’d be Jo Malone’s Mimosa and Cardamom. The smoothness of the mimosa, the spice of the cardamom, the hint of rose…what’s not to love? This baby lasts all day and just smells heavenly. If you’re after a special occasion fragrance this spring – or just fancy treating ‘yo self  – I’d recommend this one!

19 Things All Short Girls Can Relate to.

Standing at an impressive 5″1, I’m hardly what you can call tall. And – don’t get me wrong, I love being on the small side – but it definitely comes with a few things that I’m *sure* my fellow petite ladies will be able to relate to. So hey there fellow short gals, this one if for you…

  1. Your jeans are always at least 2 inches too long. Even when you wear petite.
  2. But cute dresses / shorts / skirts that are bum-bearing on everyone else fit you like a dream.
  3. Speaking of clothes, you struggle to find any decent petite brands that actually do nice stuff.
  4. Reaching things in kitchen cupboards is a mammoth task.
  5. People in the office will purposely put your mug *just* out of reach to watch you struggle.
  6. In fact, you spend most of your time on your tip-toes trying to reach things.
  7. Heels – even small ones – are pretty much the only shoes you’ll put on your feet. Gal’s gotta look a little bit taller than she is, am I right?!
  8. Cuddles with tall boyfriends are the best thing ever. Especially when you fit nicely under their chin. It’s all safe and snug there!
  9. Said tall boyfriend will have used your head as an arm rest on at least one occasion.
  10. When you take photos with all your normal height / tall friends you look *even* smaller than you are.
  11. You can only see the top of your head in bathroom mirrors.
  12. Curling into a ball in bed or on the sofa is hella easy when you have short legs.
  13. But there have been occasions when you’ve sat on a sofa on your feet haven’t touched the floor.
  14. There’s literally no way you can climb into a bar stool and look sexy. You look like you’re scaling Everest.
  15. People like to point out that you’re short. All. The. Time.
  16. You get ID’ed a lot. But that’s defo a plus when you’re mid-twenties!
  17. Chances are, short legs come with small feet. Which means lots of sale bargains!
  18. You’ll have perfected the art of standing on your tip toes in photos to make your legs look longer.
  19. People have told you short gals can’t wear maxi skirts. Which is rubbish. You *can* pull off that maxi!

The £8.99 Liquid Lipstick You Need.  

If you’re looking for the perfect spring / summer liquid lipstick, you can call off the search. I’ve found it and boy oh boy, it’s pure L-O-V-E. And it’s only £8.99. 


This is the Boujouis Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipstick in the shade Peach Club and it’s my new BFF. 

It’s a coral-peach-red and it’ll look banging’ with a tan. In fact, I reckon it’d suit all skin tones. I’m super pale now and I still love it. 


It’s a matte formula (my fave kind!) but it’s not drying and it applies like a dream. One cost and it’s semi-sheer, two and you’ve got a great pop of colour. 

Add lashings of mascara, a flush of bronzer and you’re good to go. 

And at less than a tenner a pop, I’m gonna be getting these in every sweet summery shade there is. 


Nothing says “Spring/Summer” like a coral / peach lipstick and this baby ticks so many boxes for me. 

I’ve been wearing it none stop since I brought it and can report that it wears REALLY well. Even with eating and drinking, I only needed to apply this once or twice to keep it looking fresh. 

Can ya tell I love this?

May Goals. 

Hey May, where did YOU spring up from?! April whizzed by in a whirr of birthdays and weddings, and this month ain’t gonna be any less busy. Here are some of my goals for the weeks ahead. 

1. Holiday Planning. After thinking we weren’t going away this year, James surprised me for my birthday with a trip to Dubrovnik. That means I’ve been scouring ASOS for all the holiday clothes. If you’ve got any recommendations for clothes as well as things to do / see / ear in Dubrovnik, hit a gal up!

2. Work Promotion. This week I got a surprise promotion at work which I’m not gonna lie, I’m dead proud of myself for getting! This month, I’ll be taking on loads more at work and I’m excited to get stuck in. Wish me luck!

3. Upping the Gym Game. I’ve got my gym routine down to a fine art but next week I’ve got myself booked in for a PT session. I’m excited to try something new, and get some new exercises added to my regime to help tone up. 

4. Blogging Routine. April was crazy busy and I neglected this lil ole space of mine on the web so this month I wanna get back into a blogging routine. If there’s anything you’d like me to write about, let me know!

21 Things I Learned at 26.

This week I turn 27, which I’ve got to be honest is bloody weird. WHEN did that happen please?!

And with my birthday looming, I thought I’d put together a list of a few things I learned over the last 12 months:

  1. If something’s not making you happy, it’s not worth it. Life is too short!
  2. The people who’re always there for you are the ones that matter. 
  3. Coffee is *very* necessary. 
  4. Nights in can be just as fun as nights out. 
  5. Investing in a proper skincare routine isn’t over-rated and is 100% worth it. 
  6. Your friends all start to get engaged and everyone will ask when it’s your turn. Cue lots of eye rolling!
  7. But you’ll have the *best* time helping them plan and enjoying their Big Day. 
  8. It’s not a bad thing to cut toxic people out of your life.
  9. Nothing beats freshly washed bed sheets and clean pyjamas on a Sunday night. 
  10. It’s good to budget and save like an “adult”…
  11. But the ASOS addiction is real. Sorry not sorry. 
  12. Eating right and moving more does wonders for your mental health. 
  13. Carbs however, will ALWAYS be the answer. 
  14. Sometimes you just need a bar of chocolate and a good cry. 
  15. You *can* and *should* say “yes” more and push yourself out of your comfort zone. 
  16. There’s nothing better than putting the world to rights over a bottle or 3 of prosecco with your BFFs. 
  17. You’ll have friends who you can only see once in a while, but it’s like you e never been apart. 
  18. Early nights are underrated. 
  19. As are home cooked meals, perfect cups of tea, and lazy sofa days. 
  20. Some days you feel like a sassy girl boss and other days you want to do nothing. It’s all about balance. 
  21. Life doesn’t always go the way you thought it would, but that’s okay.

Four Home Updates You Can Make This Spring. 

Since buying our house two years ago, I’ve loved decorating and buying bits and pieces for around our home. 

While most of the rooms are *done* now, we’re still adding little touches to add personality to each one.

Whether you’re decorating your home, flat, uni halls or bedroom, here are five home updates you can make this spring – without spending a fortune:

1. Dress Your Shelves


I love adding cute prints, candles and other trinkets to rooms and shelves are a great way to do that. 

Whether you go minimal or all out, themed or a mish-mash, floating shelves or shelving units are a great way to update your home on a budget.

For spring, I’ve added leaf prints and heaps of (faux) greenery. I’ve also got copper and gold touches as well as the odd photo of the two of us and song lyric prints. 

2. Prints and Canvases


If you’re looking for pretty but affordable prints to add a spring feel to your home. Etsy and Not on the High Street have loads of really cute affordable prints. 

You can print loads at home yourself from just a few pounds which make them perfect for seasonal touches. 

I’ve also just added a canvas to the wall in the living room for more colour and to brighten up our white walls. 

3. Candles

Candles aren’t just for cosy winter evenings. Spring scents are a great way to bring the outside in and make your rooms feel more homely. 

I’m a big fan of wax melts too as they really throw the scent around a room. Supermarkets do great dupes for pricier brands so you don’t have to spend big. 

4. Greenery 

If like me you’ve got a knack for killing house plants and flowers before they’ve even bloomed, faux greenery is the way forward. 

If you’re better with plants, go for the real deal. Either way, greenery is the perfect spring touch for your home or rooms.

The Wedding Guest Dress You Need. 

It’s official. Wedding season is underway and it’s time to start thinking about those all important outfits.

I’m heading to seven weddings this year, and there’s one style of dress I keep going back to. 

The floral Bardot. 

I know. Florals at a wedding are hardly groundbreaking, but trust me – there’s a reason they work. 


This floral number is from ASOS a couple of seasons ago now and has been my dress of choice at two weddings already. 

The skater skirt is flattering (and great for swirling around on the dancefloor) and it’s not too short. It’s love. 


I teamed it here with a black fascinator from ASOS and some Kurt Geiger sandals. We danced all night (even though the Bardot too *kind of* restricts your arms!)

ASOS has tonnes of dresses in this style (I’ve brought most of them for all the weddings I’m going to!) so if you’re looking for a dress style. I’d recommend this one!


We had a lovely time seeing one of the cutest couples tie the knot, and can’t wait for the next one in a fortnight!

19 Reasons Why Your Girls Are Your Soulmates.

Forget boys. Carrie Bradshaw really did get it right when she said your girls are your soulmates. Here’s why:

  1. They’ve been there. Through everything.
  2. You have so many crazy stories and inside jokes that make no sense (and can’t be explained) to anyone else.
  3. You have, on at least one occasion, pretended to be their girlfriend so a creep at the bar will leave them alone.
  4. They know what to say and when to say it. Even if you don’t want to hear it, and especially when you don’t want to hear it.
  5. Getting drunk together and crying because you love each other so much is totally normal (and acceptable) after 74911294 cocktails.
  6. You can have intense heart-to-hearts at 1am or 1pm and they always give you the best advice.

  15. A quick catch-up over coffee can last all day and you never run out of things to talk about.

  17. You can just give them a look and they know exactly what you’re thinking.

Five Healthy Habits To Include In Your Week.

I’d like to think that I’m *quite* a healthy person.

I work out 5/6 times a week, eat pretty well, drink water and ya know, do all the stuff they tell you to do to stay “healthy”.

That doesn’t mean though, that I’m good all the time.

I find it really hard to say no to chocolate, love going out for food and am a real carb Queen.

For me, it’s all about trying to find a balance. Making small additions to my daily and weekly routines in order to keep as healthy as I can.

If, like me, you’re trying to stay on the wagon without only ever eating kale, here are five healthy habits to include in your week:

1. Move Every Day (Even Just a Bit!)

If like me your job involves a whole lot of sitting around (and then you do a whole lot more sitting around in the evenings!), you’ll probably have noticed how easy it is for those pounds to creep on.

I try and do *some* form of exercise everyday. I actually really enjoy gym classes so for me it’s not that difficult but I know not everyone feels the same.

Whether that’s a gym class in the evening, a walk on my lunch break, taking the stairs instead of the lift…just doing *something* that’s even just a little bit active is a great start.

2. Drink Up!

Is it just me that finds drinking 2 litres of water a day HARD?! I mean, it’s bad enough trying to fit that much water into my stomach, and don’t get me started on how much you need to pee…

Even so, as much of a cliche as it is, drinking more water is a really easy healthy habit to add to your week.

There *are* apps you can use to remind you to drink, but I prefer to keep a huge cup on my desk and make sure I drink at least 2 of those at work plus what I have at home and when working out.

3. Switch Up Your Snacks

Once it gets to 10:30/11am, I’m on the hunt for a snack to fill the void ’till lunch. And while I’d much rather a bar of Dairy Milk over a Nakd bar, it’s a healthy habit I’ve got into.

There’s nothing worse that starving yourself and being miserable so snacks are a must, but there are loads of ways you can switch them up and keep on track to being healthy.

4. Perfect Some Healthy Meals

Confession time: my boyfriend does 90% of the cooking at home. But we’ve got about 8/9 core, healthy meals we rotate between.

It just makes it super easy in the evenings when we’re both tried from work to ha e some quick, easy and healthy meals.

From paella & quesadillas to one-pot casseroles packed with veg, we make sure to eat tasty – but healthy dinners MOST nights.

5. Enjoy Treats!

The biggest healthy habit to include into your weekly routine is enjoying treats. I try to be good 80% of the time and have a treat or cheat meal the other 20%.

As soon as I ban myself from having something, I crave it and am more likely to binge…and then guilt-trip myself.

It’s a cliche, but it’s all about balance!

3 Skincare Bits You Should Treat Yourself To This Week.

When I was first old enough to get “into” skincare, I remember picking up a moisturiser from Simple and slathering it on my face every now and again.

Up until recently, my skincare regime still consisted of only Simple products albeit there was a Day and Night Cream and an Eye Cream thrown in there as well as a Cleanser and Toner.

But with my 27th birthday rapidly approaching, I decided that it was time I started investing more in my skincare. After all, it’s my face. It’s just there for everyone to see and, well, I figured I should probably start taking it a bit more seriously.

I mean, it’s only a matter of time before those dreaded fine lines and wrinkles start appearing right!? Please no!

And while I’m by no means a skincare expert, I have found some products that I freakin’ love and am so glad to have added to my routine. So if you’re looking to step up your skincare game or just fancy treating yourself to some new things (it is Friday after all!), here are three skincare bits you should treat yourself to this week:

1. L’Oreal Pure Clay Face Masks

My skin has been looking a little dull and meh recently and I’d been looking at something that would help pep it back up. I saw these L’Oreal masks ages ago and finally snapped up the Detox and Glow masks and I am in sweet L-O-V-E.

They’re made of a combination of pure clays and I have a brightening and exfoliating mask and one for sucking out the impurities from my face. They both work like a dream and I’ve been combining them or using them on their own.

My skin feels smooth, more glowing, and I’ve noticed a real reduction in redness from spot scars. They’re now a staple in my pamper night routine!

2. L’Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Milk

This is, I think, a newbie from L’Oreal and when I spotted it on offer whilst doing the big shop I snapped it up. And boy oh boy am I glad I did!

Designed for normal to sensitive skin, this cleansing milk combines extracts of Rose and Jasmine Flowers, in a make-up removing milk. It smells divine and is silky smooth when applied to the skin.

It removes all traces of make-up and feels really nourishing – kind of like a big, soft blanket on this skin. I’ve been using this morning and evening and am loving it. Not bad for an impulse buy!

3. Pixi Glow Tonic

Yup, I’m still singing this bad boy’s praises. I was nervous to use something with glycolic acid in on my face but there’s a reason every man and his dog calls this a ‘holy grail’ product. I shared my thoughts on this in this post in case you fancy a read!
